SUMMARY:Fatherhood Summit
DESCRIPTION:On behalf of the Inland Empire Father Involvement Coalition (IEFIC)\, we would like to invite you to this year’s Fatherhood Summit! The Inland Empire Fatherhood Summit will be a celebration of fatherhood in the month of June in efforts to highlight fatherhood awareness as proclaimed by our San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors. The IE Fatherhood Summit will showcase fun activities for father and child\, guest speaker and opportunity drawings.  The virtual summit also aims to inspire\, educate\, and equip fathers and father-figures to be actively engaged in their children’s lives. We would like to connect fathers and families to the pipeline to success by sharing resources needed to meet current needs. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFathers who are engaged and present make a real difference in their children’s lives. Children who are raised by involved fathers are sixty percent less likely to be suspended or expelled from school\, 2x as likely to go to college and find stable employment after high school\, seventy-five percent less likely to have a teen birth\, and eighty percent less likely to spend time in jail. Fathers who are present in their child’s life are capable caretakers of their young toddlers\, support the development of their children\, collaborate in their partner’s positive parenting efforts\, add to the overall health and wellness of the family\, and experience beneficial improvements in their own developments and life.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Perinatal Mental Health - What to Know and How to Help
DESCRIPTION:Parents and caregivers may experience a range of challenges as they welcome a child into their home that can lead to mental and emotional distress. Included in these challenges are perinatal mental health disorders. \nThis 3-hour training will present foundational information on perinatal mental health for hospital and community healthcare providers. In this training\, we will review expectations\, social stigmas\, and barriers to care that impact mental health during the transition to parenthood. \nAs well\, we will review risk factors\, impact of perinatal mental health disorders on babies and the developing child and co-occurring issues like substance use and intimate partner violence. Experts\, Gabrielle Kaufman\, LPCC\, BC-DMT \,NCC \,PMH-C and Anna King\, LCSW\, PMH-C\, will also review the differential diagnoses of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) and treatment recommendations\, including during the screening and assessment phase. Participants will learn how to apply this knowledge within their respective area of practice through an interactive lecture and case examples. \n3 continuing education credit for LMFTs\, LPCCs\, LCSWs\, LEPs\, and psychologists through the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) in the state of CA available at no cost. \nTo register\, visit: https://maternal-mental-health-2022.eventbrite.com/

SUMMARY:PACES: Positive and Adverse Childhood Experiences Training
DESCRIPTION:Positive and Adverse Childhood Experiences (PACE) acknowledges that adverse childhood experiences and positive childhood experiences work together\, for our entire lives. Discussions on ACEs have always included information on resilience\, but only addressed it as a mitigating factor in overcoming the effects of ACEs. Joining adverse and positive experiences better reflects the direction this movement has been going. In this training we will discuss: \n• What prompted this new movement\n• Integration of trauma-informed care\, strengthening families and protective factors\n• Power of positive experiences \nRegister through Eventbrite to receive the link to access the training   –   https://paces.eventbrite.com \n  \nVirtual training facilitated by Xeneida Brown and Doreen Ivery from Children’s Network via Zoom.
