Parents and caregivers may experience a range of challenges as they welcome a child into their home that can lead to mental and emotional distress. Included in these challenges are perinatal mental health disorders.
This 3-hour training will present foundational information on perinatal mental health for hospital and community healthcare providers. In this training, we will review expectations, social stigmas, and barriers to care that impact mental health during the transition to parenthood.
As well, we will review risk factors, impact of perinatal mental health disorders on babies and the developing child and co-occurring issues like substance use and intimate partner violence. Experts, Gabrielle Kaufman, LPCC, BC-DMT ,NCC ,PMH-C and Anna King, LCSW, PMH-C, will also review the differential diagnoses of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMADs) and treatment recommendations, including during the screening and assessment phase. Participants will learn how to apply this knowledge within their respective area of practice through an interactive lecture and case examples.
3 continuing education credit for LMFTs, LPCCs, LCSWs, LEPs, and psychologists through the Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) in the state of CA available at no cost.
